The Challenge
Founded in 2000, SurePayroll has grown to become the #1 online payroll company for small businesses. The company delivers peace of mind by combining innovative, industry-leading technology with personalized support, specifically designed for companies with 100 or fewer employees.
As part of its commitment to providing an excellent, up-to-date user experience, SurePayroll engaged Centralis to redesign its employer payroll application. Our team was charged with understanding the unique needs of small businesses across a wide range of industries, to ensure they can run their payroll quickly and accurately.
The Process
Centralis’ vision for SurePayroll’s application was grounded in a solid understanding of the company’s strategic vision, as well as the needs of its customers. As a small business ourselves, we understood first-hand the complexity of payroll taxes, the risk and hassle associated with errors, and the desire to get payroll finished and return our attention to the core activities of our business. Our user research with other small businesses confirmed we were not alone in these challenges.
We worked collaboratively with the SurePayroll team to develop an interactive prototype of the payroll entry experience. Our streamlined approach allowed employers to make payroll decisions quickly, while also setting up defaults for future efficiency. We refined our approach through usability testing, and delivered the foundation for a modernized, simplified user experience.
The Impact
Centralis’ iterative, user-centered design process integrated user feedback throughout our engagement with SurePayroll. Our vision formed the basis of the company’s next-generation design.
In recognition of their enhancements to their platform and customer service, SurePayroll was recently awarded Gold in the e-Commerce Customer Service Award category at the 14th Annual Stevie Awards.
