Training

Centralis offers training programs in the principles and techniques of user-centered research and design.  Training provides the tools you need to bring the voice of the user into your organization.

Our approach to training combines a theoretical foundation with practical, hands-on techniques that you can readily apply in your daily work.  We tailor our curriculum to address the specific needs of your product or current project, supplementing classroom-based training with actual users in live research sessions.

Training topics include:

  • Foundations of experience design:  Learn the fundamentals of a successful user-centered design process, and how to get started.
  • User research planning and execution:  Discover how to plan a user research study, including selecting the right method, recruiting the participants and creating session plans.
  • Session facilitation: Explore the art and science of working with users – how to observe, ask questions and deal with different types of personalities.
  • User & task modeling:  Create process flows, scenarios and other models to illustrate and communicate user behavior.
  • Concept development:  Learn how to translate research insights into compelling products, services and experiences.

Our training programs are tailored to meet the needs of specific audiences.  We provide introductory and intermediate-level instruction for product managers, marketing managers and executives looking to introduce user-centered design into their organizations.  For experienced usability practitioners, we offer the opportunity to explore advanced techniques and to hone skills.

All training sessions are led by Centralis co-founders Kathi Kaiser and Lyman Casey. With more than 25 years combined experience in user-centered research and design, Kathi and Lyman are energetic, compelling instructors who have received great reviews from conference attendees and past training program participants.
